android port

gravit is already running on iOS (iPhone/iPad), so the android platform would be an interesting project.

From what I have learned so far

• basicially, everything on android is java
• C is supported with the android NDK (native-code development kit) http://developer.android.com/sdk/ndk/overview.html
• There is a port of SDL for android http://wilbefast.com/2011/07/29/sdl-for-android-in-10-drunken-steps/ http://jiggawatt.org/badc0de/android/index.html
• instead of full OpenGL, only OpenGL ES is supported http://wilbefast.com/2011/08/06/sdlglesandroid-we-need-to-go-deeper/
• The threading/tasking model is very different.
• There are special APIs for handling files and persistent data (the kernel may simply kill any app any time)

Actually, there is no iOS port. You might be mistaken because Gravit is in the "Mac App Store", which is different to the "App Store", or "iOS App Store".

It's a great idea to get it running on Android though! NDK is the way to go imo, since porting will take a while and maintaining two different forks would be a nightmare :)
