What about this theme for Jekyll?

This looks like it would meet our needs nicely, thanks @zonca! I don't have very strong preferences on the aesthetics.

ok, I'll set it up on a new repository in the next couple of days, then @brandonshensley can add content. so we free @bthorne93's time to work on Synchrotron! ;)
