How to makes icons and collaborate? #985

I'm a programmer and I don't have any vector drawing skills but I know how to drawn on paper. I have some icon ideas for this project, but I want to upload tem instead of waiting some one to do it. So I have some questions:

  1. How to get started?
  2. What software I should use? Inkscape is a good option?
  3. What type of skills, tools and techniques I need to learn to achieve that icon style?
