Working as intended. Distracting shot is more of a fixate than a taunt.

Distracting shot is a taunt tough and it is longer than a warrior taunt. In fact looking at spell effects of DS, it is much superior to taunt.
So if you DS a target, warrior taunts after, his taunt expires but your DS is still up then you're a target. On top of that, from the described situation i think the boss moved? Could be that the higher threat rule kicked in because tank wasn't in range (guessing)
Boss did move but I dont think its threat related but rather the fixate debuffs shouldn't co-exist. Basically latest Fixate debuff from taunt spells should be there on targets but from others get overriden and removed when LATEST get applied. There are many debuffs atm that co-exist but shouldn't and i would like to make individual reports at some point based on raiding experience on this server but i also need to look for proof for each individual buff/debuff and how they should work, will take some time. But anyway i will look for proof that Taunt Fixate debuffs shouldn't co-exist on one target. do not close this yet
Distracting shot is not a fixate spell, it is a taunt
As close to a taunt Distracting Shot may be, it's missing a threat generation component that all taunts have. Mocking blow and Challenging roar work in a similar way, not true taunts.

So in Manpower99s scenario, as soon as the tanks fixate from taunt runs out, and Distracting Shot fixate is still active, the boss should be attacking the hunter again until Distracting Shot fades.
Okay please still don't delete iam still digging as much info as i can for this, but regarding the spell itself as iam seeing in this video : Yogg0 WF Classic WotLK you can see distract shot behavior regarding the debuff, it prioritizes the hunter/fixates him until debuff is over and then it changes target, sometimes doesn't since it does random cast of Drain Life, but afterwards general behavior is that it does return to the highest threat target which in this case was the tank but feign death is being used to reset the Hunter's threat.
So i would guess it is considered a taunt regarding actually taking threat. Now i just gotta find proof that if a player taunts the fixate debuff should be overidden if there is any proof of so.
Distracting is a full fledged taunt, not force attack me effect like a challenging roar. I can view distracting shot spell effects (how blizzard coded the spell) and it is a full, proper taunt - like warriors or paladins. I can see DS having lower priority than taunt being a thing (knowing blizzard and how they handle stuff) but i have yet to see such case, maybe this is one;p
Well, the way distracting shot is working currently is a fixate. If you believe it to be different the spell needs changing.
Behaves differently than other taunts somehow on this server. If i use distracting shot and another player taunts afterwards, as soon as his taunt debuff is over, the target goes back to me.
Bug occured on Algalon, but i don't think its algalon specific.
