I've never used any Page Builders, like Visual Composer, JoomShaper's Page Builder, etc.
But I do like the idea, as these Page Builders are really getting popular and they've become almost like a standard. Users expect to have a Page Builder. So it might really be worth it to consider this for Gantry5.
I imagine it to offer the following:
g-grid
)g-block size-70
)I just found this link. Have a look at it if you haven't read it already.
EDIT: Also, if such Page Builder is implemented in G5, and if it allows it, it might turn into a very popular thing and 3rd party developers might start developing addons for it, as it is happening for Visual Composer for quite some time now ;)
I'm keeping this request, though its something I'm not going to look in near future as we still have a few base features we need to implement: layout inheritance, multi-language support, front-end editing of particles... After we have nailed those, we are already a bit closer to page building features.
I am not sure how far this got but visual composer for wordpress feels very similar to building a page with particles, I also saw joomlart s page builder and that seems to work at a template level which is not what I need myself. I like having a template and then working the content inside. Often all you need is a quick way to build responsive structure. I am also not that happy to loose editorial control of premium content once the subscription expires which is what joomlart page builder does. I don't need all the bells and whistles but adding rows and columns would be cool.
Page Builders are getting popular in WordPress themes and now they started to come in Joomla Articles, Gantry 5 already have the layout infrastructure and particle system it would be a good idea to add some Lite Page Builder for the Articles in Joomla or WordPress for Pages, Post or any other Post Type.
Maybe a setting to turn it ON in the settings or something so people can still choose. It would make creating pages a lot easier and they could do it in the article, post or page itself so no more running into the modules or widget to change something you simply open a page and BAM you change all particles on that page and that's it ....
Would really like to hear people thought on this idea ...
