Once we finish #176 we may be able to remove AltSymBBByDegree and maybe also the file gap/projective/AnSnOnFDPM.gi. I think the latter is only used by the former. Also the whole code looks rather old. For example it does not use the isone(ri) mechanism, although it is called with projective input.
This depends on whether keeping AltSymBBByDegree around improves performance of the recognition of An and Sn.
