[Leia Beta 3] Add-ons are unable to be downloaded or updated #32

Describe the bug

Here is a clear and concise description of what the problem is:

When trying to update a preinstalled add-on or trying to download a new one, the system reports the message "[Add-on name] download failed".

Expected Behavior

Here is a clear and concise description of what was expected to happen:

Download and installation should proceed without issue.

Actual Behavior

[Add-on name] download failed.

Possible Fix

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. After booting, go to Add-ons category.
  2. Select "Available Updates"
  3. Select "Update All"

• Operating system version/name: Steam Link (Build 669 Beta)

• Kodi version: Leia 18 Beta 3

Yeah Kodi is pretty useless if you can't install or use addons.

I got video acceleration working for Leia on the Steam Link, but there's a performance regression and both SD and HD video are unplayable. Until video playback works there's not much point in installing or using add-ons.

I have the same issue like ToasterDEV mentioned. Not able to install from .zip or update any plugins. Any idea why?

should I just use 17.6?

I tried and installed the specific version on steam link and tried to install some addons from various repositories but i always receive error message. I have also tried the previous version of this software but still not working. To be fair it seems that this topic is dead since the previous comments are quite old.....hopefully i am wrong!

That's what I did. Addons seem to work fine after fixing system date issue (https://github.com/garbear/kodi-steamlink/issues/28#issuecomment-423485236) Only issue left is that we can't play HD videos :(
