Amendment to the Tour de France plan. We're going to fly into Nice on Thursday, rent a car and drive just North of Nice to an Airbnb along stage 20. We can decide on Friday if we actually want to drive up to stage 19 or if we want to do something else. Got the airbnb until Sunday too so that we can stay in it in the late Saturday

Paris gare saint-lazare to Caen on Monday morning

Train return from Caen to Airport. Leaves Caen at 3 PM. $250

Car rental to just return to the airport? $350

Notes on car situation when we get to Nice:

Will need a car from Nice to La Colmaine and back. We return to nice on July 20, but our hotel does not have parking. We could find public parking (I think there is a nearby garage) that would be $45 to park until Monday July 22. Then we would keep the same car until we reached Lyon on Friday July 26. It is seemingly a bit more expensive to take this route. I anticipate ~$850.

We could also return the car on Saturday July 20 and then get a new car on Monday July 22. This is a bit of a hassle to return the car, train to the hotel and then do the reverse on Monday. It's marginally cheaper (I anticipate $770 w/o taking into account the train fare to from airport (or use hotel shuttle if it exists)). It might be nice to do this way to not have to deal at all with public transit though.
