Munki 2 - Changes to Update Tab #314

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

1. If an item has a long description, there is a "...More" button but once you
expand the description, there isn't a "...Less" button.

2. If an optional item requires an additional software item and the additional
item has a long description, the user must hit the "...More" button to see the
bold "This item is required by". Perhaps this should be added to the very top
of the description to better explain to the user why it was added to the update
list (since munki moves the user to the update tab already).

1. Matches App Store behavior. Seems acceptable to me.

2. This is a reasonable argument. Follow-up question: which bit of information
is more important to a "normal" user: the product description or the reason why
it's included? I don't think that answer is obvious...

While this isn't a direct answer, but we could have our cake and eat it too.

The requires field only takes up two lines. Currently it's displaying three
lines, so you would have _some_ of the description.

Your question assumes the admin has actually written descriptions for required
items. To be fair though, if the admin didn't add a description, this wouldn't
be an issue.

"The requires field only takes up two lines." If only one item requires this
one! It's possible to have multiple items require the current one; in that
case, it uses an additional line for each item.
