I can not reproduce this, also using Win7 and 1.7.2 of StExBar.
Can you give me more information on how to reproduce this?

I've made a minidump of the process (64bit version). Hopefully you can use this
with
the symbols to work out what is wrong.
If this is no help I could try a debug build.

The dump file can't be read, but I guess that's because I'm not using an x64 OS.
You said in step 3: right-click on the taskbar.
do you really click on the taskbar? Or on the Stexbar in explorer? Because a
simple
right-click on the taskbar shouldn't even trigger anything in StExBar.

Unfortunately I'm away for a few days so don't have access to my work PC that it
happens on. I haven't seen it at home on x64 win7 (but I'm using a slightly
older
version there).
It seems to be really random things that set it off, like using the 'aero peek'
button at the RHS of the taskbar or the steps above. I did notice that the bar
shows
up in the list of toolbars you can add to the taskbar (I'm not sure it did
before) -
as well as the context menu for desktop icons.
When I get back I'll grab the callstack addresses from the dump, and if I can
I'll
build a debug version and grab a proper callstack.
Cheers,
Ian

I've now tried this on Win7 x64, and I can't reproduce it.
Do you maybe have another step-by-step recipe on how to trigger the crash?

Could you try with the attached version and see if the issue still exists?

Just wanted to chime in here. I'm on Windows 7 64bit and I see the exact same
Explorer crashes. StExBar 1.7.2.
Haven't tried the modified version yet but I will. Can't seem to reproduce it
consistently either...

Apologies for lack of info here recently. I've been extremely busy at work
(where the
problem occurs) and then a long christmas holiday. I'll do my best to post back
with
more info when I can.
Just a recent thought also, I have two other shell extensions at work, dropbox
(same
as at home) and the Xbox 360 neighborhood plugin (I'm a game dev). Its possible
that
either of these extensions has some kind of conflict with StExBar.
Cheers,
Ian

I've now tried the attached exe (version number is coming up as 1.7.2.242), and
I now
cannot reproduce it. Thanks! :)
Again, sorry for the really really long lead time on me testing this and
getting you
more info...
Cheers,
Ian
