What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Click on the Console button from StExBar, or from the contextual menu

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Nothing happens, while a command prompt should show up

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.8.3.352 (x64) on Win7 Pro SP1

Please provide any additional information below.
It worked before (I was using 1.8.0) and then (without special change or hack
to my system) it stopped working. I then upgraded to 1.8.3 but it didn't help.

I installed another command prompt extension (http://code.kliu.org/cmdopen/)
which works fine.

I tried to dig procmon to identify a system misconfiguration, but couldn't
figure out what to look at.

Happens also on user with admin privilges.

So you couldn't figure out what has changed.
If you can't, then I can't either. And it has to be something on your side,
since as you noticed "it worked before and then it stopped working".

I'm sorry, but I'm closing this issue as invalid. There's nothing I can do here.

err, is there anything I can do to try to figure out what happenned? What
should I look at in procmon? It would be a great help.

try this:
go to %appdata%\StExBar and rename the file Command.ini, then restart the
explorer.
if that helps, attach the renamed file here so I can have a look at it.
If it doesn't help, then there's nothing you can do to help debug the problem,
sorry.
