Any boxes, spheres, or cylinders that I select from the tree seem to have two visuals in the Property list. This includes objects created with the user tool and objects from a world file loaded from the command line.
I tried exporting the world and viewing the resulting xml, and only one visual is exported. I think its a render bug in the Property list.
Also, one of the visuals has the name of the actual visual (ie. unit_box_1::link::visual) and has the correct geometry (ie. box size 1,1,1), while the other visual has the name of the link (ie. unit_box_1::link) and has incorrect geometry (ie. box size 0,0,0).

This is fixed in gazebo8, and probably gazebo7.

The Tree has two visuals for a single box. Not sure if this happens for other simple shapes as well.
