Norwegian Museums Association - possible new publishers - (seminar November 24 and 25 2021) #56

Norwegian Museums Association, section for natural history, will have a seminar in November. Among other things, we must have a session on collection management.

Lecture - How does GBIF relate to the smaller museums with natural history collections in Norway? Is it relevant for you to give a lecture on data flow at this seminar, where there will be participants from both the large and the small museums?

I have checked the member list, and there are not many potential GBIF-contributers other than we knew before.

Agder naturmuseum og botaniske hage (part of MUSIT) Norsk Skogmuseum (collection) (New, but not sure that they have relevant collections) Helgeland Museum, Rana (New) Midt-Troms Museum (Balsfjord Fjordmuseum og Våtmarkssenter (already registered in GBIF) Museum Stavanger (MUST) (already registered in GBIF) Naturhistorisk museum, UiO (part of MUSIT) Randsfjordmuseene AS (New) Tromsø Museum, Universitetsmuseet (part of MUSIT) Vitenskapsmuseet, NTNU (part of MUSIT)

Another museum which I don't find on the member list is Varanger Museum. They have a collection in Vardø (birds, plants and molluscs)

Is there a connection between DigitalMuseum.no and GBIF? Many collections from the museums in the association are visible in this portal.

I have got an appointment with Roar Solheim at Agder naturmuseum. Next week he will visit me and we will make a plan for data publishing of the zoological collections.

I have got all the data from Universitetet i Agder. It is a bird egg collection (1189 records) and another zoological collection (3324 records). I will start to take the data to the IPT. They also use MGRS format which must be converted.

The first zoology dataset from University of Agder is published. Some metadata will be updated. One dataset is remaining (Egg collection). It will completed as soon as Roar Solheim is back from fieldwork.
