GBIF Norway contribution could focus on

I read over the proposal but didn't really have anything to add other than what you've covered already. Seems a very cool and ambitious project. One thing I didn't quite get, are they proposing to compile a separate, stand-alone database, or were they going to publish it to GBIF and maybe connect the datasets together somehow, like with a network maybe?

Maybe possible to configure a "hosted portal" for PHYTODIV to aggregate occurrence data points from across any dataset published in GBIF?

If PHYTODIV is simply an "offline database" - we might perhaps just create a GBIF API call to extract the "aggregated" PHYTODIV. And maybe simply use the GBIF portal data download DOI as the endpoint...? For project participants to access.

Milestones

  1. Setting up workflow for the digitalization of legacy phytoplankton data (month 6 ?)
  2. Software solutions for supporting digitalization by project participants (month 10 ?)
  3. Publish the first project datasets on phytoplankton in GBIF (month 10 ?)

Deliverables

  1. Simple project data portal for phytoplankton data made available in GBIF (month 25 ?)
  2. Publish all project phjytoplankton datasets in GBIF (month 40 ?)
