Discrepancy in Automatic Taxon Identification for Lamproderma cribrarioides (Fr.) R.E.Fr., 1911 #127

Hello GBIF Team,

We have identified a potential issue with the automatic taxon identification in your system. Specifically, we're observing an unexpected synonym assignment for the species Lamproderma cribrarioides (Fr.) R.E.Fr., 1911(CoL).

In GBIF, this species is currently behaving as a synonym for Lindbladia cribrarioides (Emoto) M.L.Farr & Alexop., 1986, however, according to the Catalogue of Life, it should be a synonym of Meriderma cribrarioides (Fr.) Mar.Mey. & Poulain, 2011 (CoL).

Notably, this discrepancy also seems to have led to an artificial inflation of the global coverage for Lindbladia cribrarioides (Emoto) M.L.Farr & Alexop., 1986, since it is assumed to occur solely in Japan.

We're unsure why this discrepancy is occurring as the Catalogue of Life appears to have the correct synonym. Could you help us understand the cause of this and potentially rectify the situation?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Thank you for reporting this, @MichalTorma! This inconsistency is due to the time lag between changes in Catalogue of Life and the only periodical regeneration of the GBIF taxonomic backbone. We are currently in the process of preparing for a new release, most likely around the second half of August. By that time, this issue should be fixed, as I could already verify in the current experimental build of the refreshed backbone.
