Incorrect synonymy of Cryptocephalus vittatus and Acalymma vittatum
These two beetles are distinct species. Cryptocephalus vittatus (Chrysomelidae: Cryptocephalinae) is native to Europe and there are no records for North America. Acalymma vittatum (Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae) is native to North America and there are no records for Europe. GBIF detailed records online support the above: all specimens reported are from the respective continents. As evident from their placement in different subfamilies, these two species are not even close taxonomically.
References: http://texasento.net/Crypto.html shows that C. vittatus does not occur in North America. Following 2 references do not show Acalymma vittatum in Europe.
