I checked a few records on the American continent (at least those that have images) and they don't seem to be incorrect identification. This one clearly states that it was a cultivated specimen: https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/1503173384 this one mentions that it comes from a "Horticultural Science Greenhouse": https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/1990221239.
Wrong authorship, should be synonymous to Dracaena
This source, judging by the name and the pictures, contains species of Sansevieria Thunb. The author name here is Thumb. which is not correctly applied here. I am not sure if this author abbreviation exists. I am confused about the entries on the american continent, as this genus is native to Africa. I also should mention that this genus is usually considered to be now synonymous to Dracaena Vand. ex L.
