In the International Plant Names Index, there is an accepted species Capsicum sectio var. eucapsicum Wettst., 1891 with no occurrences in GBIF. The variety name prompted the backbone to create Capsicum sectio Origin: Generated, missing genus or species for ‘orphaned’ lower name. and the missing autonym Capsicum sectio var. sectio .

I am not sure there is anything we could do, but it seems a misleading to create a species and a variety based on a name that is not used. None of the names have any occurrences in GBIF.
