Why is this important: It represents the largest source of eDNA metabarcoding data on fungi with more than 3 bill occurrences. It could be considered one big dataset, or as several datasets from one publisher.

GBIF S (@thomasstjerne @tobiasgf ) is having a zoom meeting with Petr Baldrian 16 jan 2023 about possibilities.

@thomasstjerne and @tobiasgf had a meeting with project PI Petr Baldrian. GlobalFungi are in principle open for sharing of data, as long as the value of GlobalFungi remains evident. A new version of the platform is being presented in 2023, which includes more easy data sharing and access for users. Further collaboration between GBIF and GlobalFungi awaits this release, and the outcomes of internal discussions about data sharing in the project group.
