Why is this important: It is the most up to date taxonomy for reptiles with CoL and IUCN redlist using it. Unfortunately the names we see in the CoL have wrong authorships sometimes and its preferrable to have direct access to the dataset for quicker turnarounds and more accurate data

It appears to be licensed under CC-BY 4.0, because this is the license applied to their uploads in FigShare, e.g. https://figshare.com/articles/Reptile_database_data_dump_2014_12/3180265

The description of these files notes that "these fields may have multiple lines (line feeds)". These turn out to be the "line tabulation" character 0B, and appear in BBEDit on my Mac as "¿"
