Patrick Weigelt seems to have been an active user of GBIF-mediated data: https://www.gbif.org/resource/search?q=Weigelt
It seems that most of the data is open-access: https://gift.uni-goettingen.de/about
At least one part of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (who hosts the GIFT database) seems to be a GBIF publisher: https://www.gbif.org/publisher/59c81290-df0e-11d8-b22e-b8a03c50a862

I hope that these three points work towards a possible positive outcome. Is it OK if I try to approach him? @CecSve

I contacted the Node Manager for Germany to ask whether they prefer to take the lead on this, or should just be kept in the loop.
