Hey @kcopas, I just wanted to point out that @rubenpp7 is working on redefining EurOBIS dataflow as other GBIF node also has the same issue (https://github.com/gbif-norway/helpdesk/issues/149). Maybe this is already part of the consideration of the data flow @rubenpp7?
FYI - @DimEvil @pieterprovoost
Thank you!! Sorry for sticking my nose everywhere 😂 Happy New Year!
Thanks a lot @ymgan for highlighting this one up to me!
Hi @kcopas , I'm in charge of these datasets flow to GBIF, a few hundred of these datasets should flow to GBIF soon (hoping within the next 2-3 months). Unfortunately there are some manual steps that need to be taken before publishing in GBIF to avoid data duplication, justifying the delay.
As Ming pointed out, I am also working or a redefinition of the EurOBIS data flow to GBIF, this involves some institutional strategy and networks training so it will not be a quick change but I'm pushing towards an automated data flow.
Cheers!
Thanks you both, @ymgan and @rubenpp7 !
Even if I elided the challenges involved with all this, I hope the issue I posted did leave open the possibility that such things were afoot—very glad to get the details!
Hi @rubenpp7 - did you manage to get the datasets mobilized to GBIF?
Hi @CecSve We are not there yet, but we are only closer and closer. My previous time estimate was way too optimistic. I'm aiming to take another deep look at this issue during August, so I hope I'll make a deeper progress then and hopefully sync a few tens of those datasets :)
Thanks a lot for the patience!
Recognizing this is a long-standing issue, I happened across VLIZ's EurOBIS IPT. A quick count of the datasets from this page forward suggests that something like 800 of the 1,100 datasets it hosts remain unregistered with GBIF.
Flagging it here while it's in my line of sight, in the event it's worth renewing efforts to sync up.
