It looks like West Virginia Wesleyan College is a publisher on GBIF https://www.gbif.org/publisher/1cfd06e4-072d-4af6-b7cb-533f0740aa84. They have two datasets published but none specifically about Lepidoptera although one of them contains Lepidoptera. The person who logged this didn't leave any contact information so we can let them know. Maybe they were hoping to see some data related to this publication? https://www.researchgate.net/publication/367510093_Butterflies_and_Moths_of_the_Neotropics_paperback_book_Series_titleInsects_of_Latin_America_A_Photographic_Guide

I wrote Katharine Gregg from WVWC an email and copied the helpdesk on it.

Hi, Steve, I don’t have a clue. I uploaded two datasets to SCAN back in 2014, one with Euglossini and the other with mostly Bombus and various Lepidoptera. They are in the dataset titled West Virginia Wesleyan College Katharine B. Gregg Orchid Pollinator Collection. They were uploaded to GBIF late last fall by Katie Pearson (Symbiota). I know nothing about a need for validation, as I think they were all identified by experts, unless taxonomy has changed? Do I need to do anything? Also in 2014, Susan Olcott (WV DNR) came to Wesleyan, checked id’s, and took down information about all our Lepidoptera for a WV DNR Butterfly Atlas. Her list had 10 specimens that I had not collected, and they weren’t associated with orchids as far as I know. Do you think this might be connected?

I'm closing the issues since it doesn't make sense continuing to try to figure what data the submitter was suggesting could be added to GBIF, unless they get back to us with more detail.
