Why is this important: It represents a big Q for GBIf - is GBIF a store of biodiversity information from the fossil record too? Maybe the answer is already yes, but I havent seen any fossil data in gbif.

Priority: high

I'll put this in the queue, but I don't have time to work on this in the next few months (just anticipating that a database of this size would require quite a bit of discussion). If anyone else wants to take a stab at it, please feel free!
