Time to test the Suggest a dataset in action. We know this checklists fills an important GBIF gap. A good test case we have here for the new tool.

At the 2015 International Symposium on Tardigrada there was a round table discussion about establishing List of Available Names (LAN), following the good examples done by our friends with Rotifera. Conference agreed on these proposals and we are working towards an update for the next International Symposium on Tardigrada, due in Copenhagen, Denmark in July & August 2018. We specifically accepted that it will require a broad range of expertise to work together. Is there anything we can do to directly assist GBIF with there testing?

Perhaps the Polish node could assist with publishing the checklist?

The checklist has been updated in ITIS and will be part of the next CoL update which will eventually make it into the GBIF backbone and taxonomy. Thanks to the efforts of ITIS, CoL and Plazi the checklist will be updated continuously from now on.

dschigel commented 1 year ago

Wow, this is very nice. I attended the Tardigradology congress (because it was in BioCenter ;) and learnt that we have an expert in the same building as GBIF S, in case we / CoL need to consult on smth. I would of course pick this group for any CoL related news we might be releasing the future @kcopas @javiesgm #taxonequality

I am really pleased to see this progress today, incorporating the Actual Checklist of Tardigrada data into these international data resources will help make these names more readily avilable. Thank you to everyone for making this happen.
