Why is this important: Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology, Agency of Daugavpils University (LHEI) is delegated to conduct National Marine monitoring in Latvian marine waters and to host collected data by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia. At the moment, data describing hydrochemical, hydrobiological (plankton, benthos) and pollutants are published and available in LatMare (this) site. The same data are also available from National Open Data portal data.gov.lv and European Data portal data.europa.eu.
