Comments and suggestions from @birgitgemeinholzer about figure 2:

instead of "denoising" perhaps "quality filtering"?
in the legend: "here exemplified by metabarcoding" metabarcoding versus eDNA-barcoding - does this need an explanation here?
For eDNA, most of the steps up to sequencing will involve technical or biological replications to identify contamination and false positives as well as false negative results, making the structure of data and metadata hierarchical.

denoising is standard in sequence handling, quality talk in GBIF etc circles. They are not quite the same thing. Agree on No 2 and No 3.

No 2: change 'metabarcoding' to 'DNA metabarcoding' - I don't think we need to explain further since it is basically the same processing steps one goes through No 3: add suggested text @ManonGros
