Improvements to scientific name search

There is little context and guidance when searching for taxa.

• It would help to provide the classification
• List the status and possible rank.
• And ideally inform the user somehow when they are searching for a not accepted name
  • The problem with searching for synonyms is that the user might not know it. It might return results (namely the occurrences that have used that name), but the user will miss out on all the occurrences linked to the accepted name

It is valuable to be able to search for synonym usages, but for most users it is probably not what they want

@langeveldNMR the suggest now shows more context. Names that are not accepted get an orange bubble. On hover it shows more information. On mobile devices the hover is less use, but I believe this is progress and still worth adding at this point.

This would probably have solved your issue mentioned in https://github.com/gbif/hosted-portals/issues/153

This is a usefull addition, but I'm not sure the orange bubble thing is the best visualisation. I saw the bubbles before finding this thread and had absolutely no idea what it was about. The bubble reminded me of the status hint you see before persons in Telegram, Facebook and the like if they're online. The bubble caught my attention, so I thought they're preferrable to the others (because they're somhow "active"?)... but it's actually the other way round.

But I see it's the same way on gbif.org. Maybe I just need to get used to it.

Obviously we could write it all explicitly, but it just becomes a lot of text and hard to scan read I find. If someone knows (or is) a good designer, then I would be happy with a beautiful mockup showing how it should look and behave.
