Add metrics on literature search? #178

Altmetric As a test I have added Altmetric to our literature search

4 years ago it was suggested that we added this to all pages with a DOI. At the time there wasn't really any data to support it. It would show nothing 99.99% of the time. But for literature there is data (in many cases it might only be a single tweet by the secretariat though)

My question is if anyone is still interested in this? Are there better alternatives? Does it bring any value or the opposite? If we believe it is worth having, then I will look into the API constraints and investigate to which extend it is possible - the Altmetric API has limitations on how many calls we are allowed to do and I'm not sure if we would exceed those limitations.

Ideally we would index is on a regular basis so we could sort/search by it.

Impact factor Another option is to add the journal impact factor to the search index. It would allow us to display and search by it. But again, I do not know if it brings any real value. Is it nonsense to begin with? Does it do anything positive for the literature tracking and use of it?

The Pacific Portal is interested in this.

Yes this is interesting and useful to have!

If there is interest in this, then I will explore our options. Pricing, free option and limitations on usage (quotas on requests I believe). This could mean that we got blocked quickly and the badges wouldn't show half the time.
