Dowload metrics by portal #228

We are interested in knowing the performance of our portal, we have been usisng google analytics were we see some nice and consisten growth, neverthelees we cannot check how many downloads have bee trigerend from our portal. Is there a way to know this?

Not any good that I can think of.

We might be able to give an estimate based on our logs ("how many arrived at the download page where the referrer is your site")
We could add a Google analytics event to the download button (fragile solution)
We could start adding a referrer to the downloads (ideally also changing the citation string for downloads triggered via other sites).

For now I think option 1 can work to have some aproximated metrics, for long term we like option 3 as we have to report to the National goverment exact metrics of data use

Hi @MortenHofft, can we go ahead with the option 1 for some initial estimated metrics for downloads please.

¿Is the option 3 on the development plans in the short term?
