Bibliography input tool #991

What feature would like to see being added to the IPT?

It would be nice for people interested in publishing data papers to have an easier
bibliography input tool. Currently, most persons are introducing their cited literature
manually (one by one), and hence it increases the manuscript post-processing process
before submission.

Here I propose a tool similar to the one used in the taxonomic coverage section, where
several taxa can be added as a batch. Such a tool would reduce manuscript processing
time, and it also would make literature management easier.

Thanks for reporting the enhancement request.

Can you please give me an idea, of just how many citations you could have for a single
data paper? With hundreds or thousands of taxa, the batch input for taxa is no doubt
invaluable.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I have been currently helping publishers with data papers that have from 10 to 300
citations. And I have seeing published data papers with up to 120 citations.

Such a tool I propose could also make easier to organize bibliography in metadata.
For example, currently if someone wants to have bibliography in perfect alphabetic
order to introduce a new citation this person will have to delete some citations and
put those again in alphabetic order.
