Some countries have more than one official name in English. I keep searching for Russia and have to type. ...n Federation to find the country page. I wonder how many never find it? It would be great to add all official name variants to country names for Search, especially while we have very limited visibility of the countries - basically one needs to go to Network - that's six clicks from GBIF.org. I understood Tim H plans to propose some visibility fix for countries anyway.

The country search is very fragile! it gives way to wide result in some cases and overly specific in others. The problem is that we don't have a search endpoint in the APIs for countries and that it makes sense to have translated country names searchable. But as we do not have that I made an interim solution so that it was somewhat searchable. It is by no means ideal as it is. Participant name search have the same problem
