Just attended a CMEC seminar* on tree range dynamics, which largely depended on the NeotomaDB. Looks like very nice, quality and curated data. Any way we can stimulate data publishing?

Abstract: Quaternary paleoecological data has presented two conflicting models for the capacity of trees to maintain equilibrium with climate: the rapid migration rates in the pollen record that gave way to "Reid's paradox" of Quaternary plant migrations on the one hand, and growing evidence of climatic disequilibrium in response to postglacial warming and other Quaternary fingerprints on biodiversity on the other hand. Resolving these apparent contradictions will be critical if the paleoecological record is to inform our understanding of species' range shifts in the coming centuries. In this talk, I'll share how the range filling metric reveals insights about climatic equilibrium in North American trees, as well as the biogeographic patterns and mechanisms driving range dynamics.
