The generated citation is also using this approach.
The difference is that the contacts shall represent a person. If no person is defined as creator or metadata provider the organization title of the organization publishing this dataset will be used (here there is indeed a bug fixed by https://github.com/gbif/registry/commit/323250cb50b3bb47f830e25812ebf65ffcdb14be).
Thnx for the answer, but I'm still a bit confused.
The generated citation looks first for people listed as Resource Creator, if there is only an organisation listed as a Resource Creator, this will be ignored and the tool will look for people listed as Metadata Providers. If there are no people listed as Metadata Providers, then you use the "organization title of the organization publishing the dataset". Is this correct?
So it's not possible to add an organization (different from the organization publishing the dataset) as 'creator' in the data citation? Or is this the bug that has been fixed?
At this point is is not possible to attribute multiple organizations as creators.
IPT guidelines: Resource Creators: The list of creators represents the people and organisations who created the resource, in priority order. The list will be used to auto-generate the resource citation (if auto-generation is turned on).
Metadata Providers The list of metadata providers represents the people and organisations responsible for producing the resource metadata.
However the GBIF portal seems to use "Metadata Providers" to populate the default citation. The generate citation tool within IPT correctly uses the Resource Creators.
