The suggestion of adding the establishmentMeans and the degreeOfEstablishment to GRIIS datasets have been suggested to the publisher through help desk.
Response from GRIIS:
The establishmentMeans is provided for all checklists and in the case of GRIIS describes the provenance of the species i.e.; ‘alien’, ‘native-alien’, ‘cryptogenic|uncertain’.
The Invasive status of the species is recorded under ‘IsInvasive’ using the terms ‘Invasive’ or ‘Null’ (Species Profile DwC extension).
We do not record ‘DegreeOfEstablishment’
Belgium whose national list is maintained by the Belgium GBIF Node is yet to record ‘IsInvasive’ for all the records. All other checklists would have this data.
@andrewrodrigues do you have contact information on the workshop participant with this issue? In the future, I think it would make sense to ask the users to submit the issue themselves (with our assistance) so we have their contact information and can follow up
GRIIS checklists
The GRIIS checklists are not providing standardised information across countries to indicate whether the species is 1. Established and 2. Invasive. This would be very helpful for those working on invasives alien species
