wrong vernacular name

Good morning,

I am the author that described this species (Cynomops kuizha) and I was wondering where you got the vernacular name from? Awa dog-faced bat is not appropiate and while the publication doesn't have a vernacular name in it, I have decided to use western dog-faced bat as the vernacular in english. Could you plase change in the website? and also let me know what other checklist or dataset might have the incorrect vernacular name?

Hi @DaveNicolson, what is the process to get a vernacular name updated in ITIS? We got some feedback from one of our users that the vernacular name for this species: https://www.itis.gov/servlet/SingleRpt/SingleRpt?search_topic=TSN&search_value=1159235#null should be "western dog-faced bat".

Hi @ManonGros , ITIS got an email from the author directly on Monday, so we have already got a pending fix for it, to be included in ITIS after the coming end-of-month load. We will notify her when the fix is in ITIS. The vernacular fix is live in ITIS now, I've let Yuri & Markus know. I'm not sure how long the fix will take to propagate out, or whether GBIF will end up with any residual copy of the replaced vernacular. Best, -Dave
