Contact the publishers:
Biologiezentrum Linz Oberoesterreich have corrected the basisofRecord
so it is no longer materialCitation
Dipartimento di Biologia, UniversitĂ di Pisa data are published through Biocase and therefore formatted in ABCD. Bibliographic references (=literature references) are the sources of the occurrence records listed in the dataset.
Biocase helpdesk provided the following advice for sharing sources from ABCD -> DwC:
ABCD has several spots to place references: With Unit/UnitReferences/UnitReference it’s possible to provide one or several literature references for a given specimen or observation (each with TitleCitation, CitationDetail and URI – which could store a DOI). This could be used for papers on research based on that specimens/observation. If the literature was used for identification, you would map it to Identification/References/Reference (again, with Title, Details and URI). If the literature is the source of the record as in your case, Unit/SourceReference would be the best choice - again with Title, Details and URI.
looking at the main publishers of
basis of record = material citation
https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/search?basis_of_record=MATERIAL_CITATION&occurrence_status=present there seems to be no evidence of the origin of a material citations, that is there is no link to the source of the material citation.See eg. https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/search?basis_of_record=MATERIAL_CITATION&publishing_org=2d6e0e40-2aee-11d8-aa2d-b8a03c50a862&publishing_org=0674aea0-a7e1-11d8-9534-b8a03c50a862&publishing_org=c1b1455b-18ec-4637-9e0f-18cb0524b7ed&occurrence_status=present
Would it be worthwhile to talk to these publishers to ask for a source of the material citation, eg a publication?
From my point of view it doesn't make sense to have a material citation that does not refer to a source.
in PlutoF there is an
associtated references
, same in Ukraine Nature conservation Group
