The European hornet (Vespa crabro) is not known to occur on the Island of Ireland #5316

(from helpdesk)

It has come to our attention that there are 4 erroneous records mapped to Ireland on the GBIF platform. The species in question is the European hornet (Vespa crabro) (https://www.gbif.org/species/1311527). The European hornet (Vespa crabro) is not known to occur on the Island of Ireland.

I have attached the records in question in an excel file. Dr. Brian Nelson (vertebrate ecologist with the National Parks and Wildlife Service) and Owen Beckett (Ecologist & Research Officer in the National Biodiversity Data Centre), have both reviewed the 4 records and found that:

GBIF ID 3961380659 and 1920788914: These are two iNaturalists records. The photo with one record is poor quality and unable to determine the species (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/139214601). The other photo is of a European hornet but as other records from the recorders for the same date that are in Great Britian, it is likely that there is an error in recorded location. GBIF ID 3389309703 and 2331452373: These are two Naturgucker records. There is no supporting information to check the veracity of these two records and given European Hornet is not known to be present here, these records should be removed.

Should I contact the data provider directly or what should I do to have these records removed or edited?
