The current distribution contains 9 records in the Mediterranean, where the species is non-native. Citations are lacking in its native range (east Australia), and in the Atlantic coast of Spain (see for instance, Secilla et al. 2012 http://hdl.handle.net/10810/38441). A update of the distribution, following perhaps the references listed in Algaebase (https://www.algaebase.org/search/species/detail/?species_id=4529), seems warranted.
