Possible enhancements to Contentful content model for events

To support our stated willingness to share information about nodes-related training events, I'd like to propose some adjustments to the current content model for events in Contentful. Having just spoken to @dnoesgaard about it, my hope is that he'll be able to implement any changes deemed useful.

The thought is to provide a bit more consistent structure, so that we can better manage (and manage expectations around) requests from node staff to share information about upcoming events. Changes here would support other efforts to improve how we process, handle and present such information more efficiently, as would resolution of item #573 .

Possible features/enhancements could include

• [ ] option to have an ongoing/on-demand event with no start or end date-and-time
• [ ] option to tag or otherwise assign events to programmes like CESP, BID and BIFA, possibly even Living Atlases (do these already exist as a latent vocabulary?)
• [ ] option to link event to Participant country (via look-up?)
• [ ] option to link event to publishers (or other orgs listed in registry? via look-up?)
• [ ] option to link event to existing vocabulary
• [ ] consistent presentation of (embedded) video recordings (recognizing that we ourselves use event pages as post-event archives)

Note that we can probably remove the field called GBIFS notes (Internal info), as this is a vestige of our Drupal-based system for managing internal information that I believe now goes completely unused.

Thanks @dnoesgaard Yes, it would be nice since you have already talked with kcopas about details. It would be nice to start with any content model changes in dev. I do not get all points above, but you could expand on what need to be done in the portal. If possible it would be nice to avoid breaking changes (i.e. not removing fields or change fields types, but only add fields)

  • We do not have any simple way to do lookups based on APIs to add keys to Contentful. I know that it is possible to build custom forms for Contentful, but have no idea how difficult it is.

  • I'm not i get this. Is it about adding topics to events and having the searchable by topics similar to news

Pretty sure we still manually attach events to the programme pages. I guess I'm asking if it's possible to attach the programme to the event.
