Change ROR to URL #368

Closed wouteraddink closed 4 months ago

hi, ROR is now implemented as one of the options for identifiers for organisations in the registry, however it should be there as a full URL, see also: https://ror.org/facts/ and https://ror.org/display-guidelines/

for example: https://ror.org/03yrm5c26 and not: 03yrm5c26

I think this is up to the GRSciColl editors. As far as the registry go, the ROR identifiers can be a URL (like here) or not (Like there).

We could include guidance on concerning the preferred way to fill these identifiers in future guidelines.

Ok, I guest that is also the case for organisations in the registry? The only example I have seen was without, but I have no edit rights for organisations. Since these identifiers have a known format, for example a regex could be used to check it is in the correct format, or even better it could be resolved to test.

Hi @wouteraddink I have started adding ROR identifiers to a few hundreds institutions based on the open refine ROR reconciliation tool. If you have a mapping of some GRSciColl, institutions to ROR identifiers, I am happy to import them for you in GRSciColl. You are very welcome to reply here or contact me at scientific-collections@gbif.org.

Hi Marie, sure, here is a sheet with some institutions and their ROR and GBIF publisher name: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15QLUKOCQWobvyFrduBZk75xkjowWWd0LfkEC7Zyjg0k

Kind regards, Wouter
