Document multimedia with checklist #52

Multimedia possible with checklist possible?

We are a bit confused whether multimedia are possible with checklist datasets. On the best practice- page for checklists multimedia is not mentioned as a possible extension https://github.com/gbif/ipt/wiki/BestPracticesChecklists#gbif-checklist-extensions. In a blog however, it is explicitly mentioned that multimedia is not a problem http://gbif.blogspot.com/2014/05/multimedia-in-gbif.html . I was trying to find an example on the GBIF web portal but couldn’t find an example. Do you have examples where checklist datasets have multimedia included? .blogspot.com/2014/05/multimedia-in-gbif.html

Checklists can include multimedia extensions. See for example the checklist titled Radiolaria taxa in the Norwegian Sea and Arctic Ocean.

The images are displayed on the species page (see for example Actinomma boreale).

Many thanks for the quick reply. Then we will work on publishing images on our checklist dataset (Dutch Species Register).

Just one other question from one of my colleagues remains. Why is the multimedia extension not included as one of the possible extensiosns in the manual page at https://github.com/gbif/ipt/wiki/BestPracticesChecklists.

In https://github.com/gbif/ipt/wiki/BestPracticesChecklists#gbif-checklist-extensions is is mentioned: "Below is the complete list of Extensions that can be used to provide additional information about a taxon record." but without the multimedia extension.

We need to update our documentation.
