No speech on Vista #8

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install in FF on Vista
2. Try speech

I hacked it so it logs to c:/Windows/Temp/outfox.log and the last message I
see is "string size must be a multiple of element size". Related?

pyTTS works fine on Vista.

Need someone with vista to run and hack the tests/python/win32.py file in trunk
to
get speech working.

Fixed problems with speech synth on Vista. Word marker callbacks were not byte
aligned. Single streams of speech seem to work fine now.

There still seems to be a problem in a VMWare instance of Vista when trying to
play >
1 streams concurrently when at least one of them is speech. Only certain words
are
spoken. We need someone with Vista installed on the raw iron to confirm or deny
this
bug when 0.1.1 is released. If it does exist in a real install, then we've got a
pygame problem. If it doesn't, it's a VM issue.

Leaving this issue open, but not letting it stall a 0.1.1 release.

I tried the test page with installed Vista home premium (pretty much a clean
install,
not VMWare or VirtualBox) and FF 3.
All except concurrancy & Callbacks work which both hang the FF tab.
All speech has lots of clicks but sounds are fine.

The fix for issue #13 seems to have corrected the Vista problem. Marking this
bug as
fixed. Open new bugs if new problems arise.
