also added some stuff. carrying on today. pending questions from yesterday:

what is the difference between "format_type" and "datastore_type"
how are the "excel_" used, e.g. excel full text choices, excel required, excel column width, excel error formula, etc.
is the "validation" field necessary? how is it used?

finished basic field review within service.yaml file.

there are still sections of the file that relate to error checks, which I'm not sure how to handle. Do we comment them out, do we update the references so they apply to the correct fields, do we delete the whole section? what do they refer to, and how do they work? see lines approx 870-950 for services and 1415-1450 for standards
