Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Attached you will find 4 .svg files with various versions (colour and a minor
change in lettering) of a proposed rubyripper logo.

Feel free to comment and/or propose something totally different.

I do like the captital E better.

Perhaps add the cd logo to it, a bit subtle ofcourse:

The problem with the adding details like the CDDA logo or the numbering on the
inner rings of the cd or any other micro details to make it realistic in higher
resolutions is that it is lost when the icon scales (see the attached pic which
is a fast mockup for ilustration purposes).

The icons are rarely used in resolutions bigger than 128x128 except if it is
used for t-shirts and stuff which is something completely different.

i can do it if you want no problem

you decide

I agree it should be made bigger if it is to be seen at all. Maybe size it up
3-4x? It does more accurately show what Rubyripper is for.

Again the problem remains. Apart from looking weird/unrealistic when you size
it up the CDDA logo is complex by itself and doesn't scale in order to give the
necessary info to the user. (see attachment)

Also the CDDA logo is copyrighted i think.

And IMO you don't need to have a logo/icon that completely describes the
function. The user just wants something that stands out. There are many
projects that have logos that don't describe the function of the app but the
logo works because the user knows -he installed it usually- what the app is all
about. After all there are text popups that explain the function when you put
your cursor on it.

I would like to suggest the following - a picture of CD, data side up, with a
record player arm containing a ruby tip reading the CD sectors "grooves".
