problem after installing Mountain Lion #301

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

First of all, if you have any Haxies, InputManagers, SIMBL plugins or
similar operating system hacks installed, please remove them first, restart
the program, and make sure the bug is reproducible without them.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.opening a jpeg, like double tapping on a picture
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should just open the picture, and show only that. Instead, a dialogue box
opens that gives options of what you can open things with.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using 2.2. This problem began to occur after I installed Mountain Lion.

Please provide any additional information below.
In Mountain Lion when you open an application, it reveals a dialogue box asking
what you want to open. However, when you open a document, it launches Text Edit
without the dialogue box because it recognizes that you are trying to open that
document. When you open a jpeg, it opens the photo in Xee, with a dialogue box
in front of it, then I have to close that each time.

Issue 302 has been merged into this issue.

Unless someone submits a patch, this is unlikely to get fixed before the 3.0
rewrite is done. I am not really doing any development on 2.x any more.

Do you have a estimate for the 3.0 rewrite?

No. I started on it and everything about it immediately started causing
problems. Also, I have other projects that I need to work on. So I can't
promise anything.

i have a temporary fix for that Problem: go to Xee >> Preferences >> General
Settings and change the Setting from "Use one Window per Folder" to "Always
open new Window" and the annoying Dialog box should not be bothering you again.

There also seem to be a compatibility-issue with 'Default-Folder X (v4.4.12)'
which also results in the annoying #Open'-Dialog. If you add 'Xee' to the
exception List of DFX, the Dialog Box does not appear again.

JC, thanks a lot. You save me. I almost trashed Xee... almost. And for the Xee
developer, I will gladly pay a fee for a Xee 3.0 Just for your consideration.
