Can not open RAW files in external Editor

First of all, if you have any Haxies, InputManagers, SIMBL plugins or
similar operating system hacks installed, please remove them first, restart
the program, and make sure the bug is reproducible without them.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a RAW file, PEF in my case.
2. Click File > Open in Editor
3. Dead end

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see GIMP there (2.6 or 2.8, both dont appear) and maybe some other 
Editors.
I see nothing instead and the "Set default Editor" dropdown is not opening too.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 2.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.8

Please provide any additional information below.
Unfortunately I can not attach an example File. (Project attachment quota 
exceeded.)

That means those programs do not advertise themselves as capable of opening 
those files. That needs to be fixed in those programs, Xee can't do much about 
it.

If I alt-click the files in Finder, I can choose choose GIMP and Preview via 
"open with" without clicking "other...".
So the Programs seem to populate their capability of opening RAW files.
Other than Xee, which I have to choose by clicking "other..."

Xee just shows the list that OS X gives it. There's not really much that can be 
done about that.
