Opening mosaic effect is annoying #362

First of all, if you have any Haxies, InputManagers, SIMBL plugins or
similar operating system hacks installed, please remove them first, restart
the program, and make sure the bug is reproducible without them.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Opening any image
2. The mosaic appears
3. And then the image

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Image is quietly open without any visual effect.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
3.06 on Mac OSX 10.8

Please provide any additional information below.
