'People' - ic3 as device tracker ? #235

Hi

I've setup a bunch of location stuff based on the 'Person' entity and my phone being selected as 'device to track' I cannot find any ic3 devices in the dropdown as it apparently requires a device_tracker entity which ic3 does not supply.

Am I correct to assume I cannot replace my 'device_tracker_iphone' with a device from ic3 integration?

The device_tracker and sensors for v2 are created when iCloud3 is running, they do not exist as a true HA device_tracker or sensor entity when it is not running. So for your situation, they may not be available in the drop_down devices for the person.

v3 is a true integration so the device_tracker and sensor entities are part of the HA devices and entity registries, which will probably fix your problem. It's pretty well wrapped up, I'm working on the docs and will probably release it as a beta in November.

I'll let yu know when it's available as a beta and how to get it to see if it works for you.

@gcobb321 Any chance of beta testing icloud3 v3 soon? I've been excited to test it out for a very long time.

Your Added to the list. When you are one guy doing this as time permits, things take a while. I’ll be glad when it’s done too. I flew to Houston this week and saw a couple of things I didn’t like. I like things solid before releasing. It’sa lot easier to fix now then when you have a bunch of people using it. Docs should be done next week. Then I’ll do some very serious testing trying to break it.

Sounds great. I deal with blitz testing for each of our software releases- so I have experience writing up bug reports and proofing release docs. I’m looking forward to it.

Is there early access to v3? It’s not a critical service for me, so I can go with alpha or beta stability. I’d be in better shape to review your documentation with it in hand.
