Feature Request - AirTags #211

Hopeful request - I have held off purchasing AirTags because their indivdual use is frankly dumb when you are in a family situation (constantly being pinged for a device following you)

With the introduction of iOS 17 these can be shared, which has me hopeful these will be avaialble to the API too

May or may not need code changes (maybe for a friendly display ?) - But maybe someone here has iOS17 and Air Tags to test that ?

AirTags are not tracked like other devices that connect to cell service and Wi-Fi. They use Low Energy Bluetooth to provide Apple with location info using other devices. I’m using AirTags on iOS 17 and have not seen them in any data returned from iCloud Web Services. Yet.

Cheers @gcobb321 - As i said - hopeful

I would hope with the sharing feature this may become available - assumingly they would have to be shared in Find My Phone via a similar method to other Find My Friends devices

I am working on the assumption this data would be 'static' and not effect battery life of the devices - purely because of the way they work (as you mentioned) Their position being reported by other devices isnt necessarily a bad thing here, as extra polling wont cause them to drain faster

Is there any news on this? It would be quite handy if "shared" AirTags could be monitored from HA.

Air tags have never been supported and I doubt they ever will. Apple does not make them available for any web access I know of.
